I made a mistake on OSAP.. I'm a first year student who will start uni in Sept. I submitted my OSAP yesterday but I just found out that I had made a small error on the application. I accidentally chose the self-employed option in the parents' info section. What should I do? I had noticed that I can correct my mistake on the parent's declaration page, but I'm not sure that's all I have to do. Do I need to cancel my application and resubmit a new one? Will that delay my OSAP? PLEASE HELP!

I applied and received OSAP funding this previous fall for a program that I really want to continue with in the future. I had to drop out due to personal problems in my household and I'm not really sure what to do now since I want to go back to school September if possible to redo courses or in January for my second semester which I flunked out on. Now the problem is I know you have to start paying back your OSAP loans 6 months after you graduate, finish or drop out of a program but I don't know if that means I have to pay the loan back before I can receive more OSAP funding or not. Since I don't have the money to pay for my semester and it will be very hard for me to pay the loans back without a job ( + low income family ) and fast enough to get back to school I was wondering if there was any way they would just add the new funding to the rest of the loan I owe? or do I have to pay it either first or while I'm receiving more OSAP during the year?
If someone could help it would be appreciated ! thanks! When I had to leave school, and then was returning, I just contacted the NSLSC by phone, and they let me know the steps (and where to find the forms) I needed to apply for "repayment assistance" which, for me, was them not charging me interest or expecting me to pay the loans back for 6 months. Within that 6 months, I was applying for OSAP again (new program, same OSAP login, etc) and that put me back into "in progress" status with school/OSAP. I did not have to repay any of my loans (except what they gave me for the semester I dropped out of, but my withdrawal was back-dated to before school so I would have my tuition refunded, so I'm assuming that's why, because my files showed I technically hadn't gone to school that semester) in order to get OSAP funding for the new program.

I have an RESP I am planning to use to pay for some of my tuition but I also plan on using OSAP to pay for some of my residence costs.
First, Is this possible?
Second, If yes, then what do I put on the OSAP application where it would ask me if I am cashing in on RESP/Education savings plan?
If I put I am not cashing in on an RESP, but in reality I do use my RESP, will OSAP automatically reduce my OSAP loan or will they find out and screw me over?
If I tell OSAP that I am using an RESP and I still need OSAP assistance will they provide me significantly less money?
Also, If I get a job for the summer, and I make about 1.5k lets say, When should I notify OSAP about my job and the money I earned? OSAP will give you a portion of your costs depending on your income and tuition fees alone. They won't consider your residence costs, and I highly recommend avoiding residence at all costs. However, OSAP gives you two lump-sum payments, and once you have the money (after the university takes their cut) you can spend it on books or residence fees.

I am recieving a number of student admission awards for my first year at U of T Scarborough.
I am not sure if this is an income source I should record on the OSAP form or if U of T is one of the schools that directly reports it to OSAP for me and I can leave that section alone. Any help, please?

I'm in a terrible situation, can you please help me clean this up, and tell me what to do? Okay, my parents are separated and I have a single mom who lives in Rexdale, my dad lives in Markham. I go to school in Markham, but my real address is in Rexdale (where my taxes are done). However, my license, health card addresses are in Markham. My supporting parent is my mother. My mother makes $ 13 000, Father makes $ 40 000 I have an RESP under my dad's name with $ 10 000 in principal and $7000 in capital interest What do I do in OSAP? My taxes are done in Rexdale, but everything else is in Markham. Do i not put my father's details, since he is not my supporting parent? However, he has the rights to my RESP... so does this affect anything?? Please tell me what to do ASAP, as my OSAP stuff is due today? do i have more time? Accepted to:

Thursday night I finished up my OSAP and after submitting and reading it over I realized I select a May 2013 summer term instead of the correct Fall 2012 term. I tried to cancel the app to do a new one but it told me to wait 24 hours to cancel because the application was still processing. It's been over 48 hours and it still says for me to come back in 24! I'm getting really frustrated. I emailed Ryerson's financial aid office but I can't find any contact info for OSAP. What should I do?

You can only contact OSAP directly if you're an out-of-province student. Just explain your mistake and they'll fix it.

So should I still sign the MSFAA of the incorrect file and send it in? Also, would you know why the OSAP website still tells me this when I tried to delete the incorrect app?: You can't cancel this application at this time because it is being processed. Please come back in 24 hours to cancel your application.

I don't know why you're getting that error, but I assume it's so every application is processed and has to be cancelled or recognized by an OSAP officer.

So I submitted my OSAP application and then someone told me for the parent financial information I was supposed to subtract line 421/422 from line 435 (What is Parent 1 total tax payable as indicated on line 435 of his or her 2011 Canadian income tax return?). When I submitted my application I just put the amount that was on line 435. Can someone confirm for me that line 421/422 was supposed to be subtracted from line 435. Thank you!!

Hi,
I applied for the spring/summer osap but have been rejected today. The reason is because I'm not qualified for the spring and summer term . However, the email indicated I was qualified for the spring term as a full-time student. I actually submitted a spring term application in march, but I was not approved because it says im not eligible. One of the reasons may be because some of the courses I'm taking are not for the program I'm studying. I'm still waiting for my offer to transfer to the business program.
1) My question is if I do get my offer in two weeks and enroll another course for the summer term, is there still a chance I can convince them to approve my application? I'm taking two spring courses, two regular courses, and one summer course (pending because I need to wait for the grades for the spring course)
2) It says that fund certificate will not be processed after the term ended. So does that mean I have no hope in getting the spring term funds?
3) My last option is work for two months instead of taking an addition summer term course to pay for the four courses I enrolled?
Please give me some advises.
Thank you

I've only ever been told it's the total gross income, which is clearly labelled on the tax return.

Hi guys.
I just got a call from NSLC telling me that there was an error processing my MSFAA because the person working at the designated Canada Post Outlet did not stamp it properly or something. Anyways, I have to rectify this and it will take minimum 4 business days for this to get to OSAP.
My concern is that my tuition fee due date is June 27th and my school's financial aid office said that they will only allow me to defer my fees if either I am approved by OSAP or if they see that OSAP is processing my application. And if I can't pay tuition on time, I'll be withdrawn from my program. On top of everything, apparently OSAP is running late this year and I'm not able to check the status of my application.
Is anyone else in a similar situation? Also, does anyone know how long it typically takes OSAP to process/approve applications? Would OSAP even begin to process my application without my MSFAA?
Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help! I'm in the same situation here, I live down in Windsor and I am planning on going up to Humber College in Toronto in September. The problem I am having is that my Tuition due date is coming up on June 27th and OSAP Still hasn't gotten back to me on if I am getting it or not. I literally have to know by Friday at the latest where I would have to rush off to Canada Post and express mail out my deferrable to OSAP to the financial office of Humber for me to be able to keep my spot in the program. I also ran into the problem where Canada Post called me up and told me something went wrong with my MSFAA and told me to call them back, which when I did a day later they had no clue what I was talking about and never got back to me on if I should re-submit my MSFAA. This is getting extremely frustrating because I only have $1000 in my bank and dont turn 18 till the 23rd (so no credit card for me to throw the funds on while I wait). I am running out of options and dont know what I should do. For the past two weeks the OSAP Website has told me "Please Check Back in the Middle of June for your status" and I get nothing, just a few days ago the "Check your estimate" finally showed up for me on my account and it looks good for what I need, but still no information on if I got it or not. Should I call up my college to see if I can get a slightly later date, or is there a number I can call OSAP at. How does this work.
