Hey guys, I'm heading into grade 11 this fall. I was wondering if any one can explain how early acceptance to universities work? Like, how do you apply and where do your marks have to be? If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it! :) Thanks in advance! Henrietta

If you're in Ontario and applying to Ontario universities, your applications and marks are dealt with via the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC). You pay $125 and have 3 choices, and you could add more for an extra $42/application after those three. Your school will send your Grade 11 marks sometime before or during November, and then they'll give you your login information so you can apply. If you apply early (late November/early Decemberish), and have fairly good marks (my friend got accepted to Waterloo for Engineering in early December with ~95s), you may receive an offer between December and February, before the "actual" first round of offers are sent out. This is early acceptance. The only real benefit is having an offer early and not needing to worry about "Will they accept me?" with everyone else between February and May. University of Guelph Software Engineering, 2016
Applications (for Fall 2012): University of Waterloo - Computer Science (Alternate offer to Geomatics, May) University of Guelph - Software Engineering (Accepted, March) Carleton University - Computer Science: Game Development (Accepted, February) Carleton University - Interactive Multimedia and Design (Accepted, March) The University of Western Ontario - B.Sc. Computer Science (Cancelled application)
First semester (mixed w/ grade 11 marks) average: low-mid 80s Second semester midterm average: 81.33%

I don't think there is an acceptance round in December for Waterloo Engineering otherwise someone on this forum would've gotten it, lol. Early acceptance is just being accepted based on high grade 11 marks. Contrary to popular belief, there is no separate application, you should just finish applying early. The marks you need depend on the program(s) you apply to. For some programs, they do not send out early acceptance. University of Waterloo: Systems Design Engineering Class of 2017

To add to the previous posts, just remember that if you ever decide to change your mind, and you don't want to go through with a certain program, you can always delete that program from your OUAC and add another program for NO COST at all since you've already paid for the program you deleted.
Some people, like me, :$, didn't know that, and ended up spending an extra $100 that I could've used for something else.
Also, once you've gotten your acceptance, do NOT slack off please. I've seen quite a few people having to take summer school so that they their university offer would not get revoked because they decided to relax in the final year of high school after receiving their admissions.
You should also note that not all programs offer early admissions such as AFM at the university of Waterloo. You need to write an essay for that program, which takes place in march, and they send admissions around may.

Don't worry, you'll be aware of this in either October or November, there is still a huge window of time. **Shields** Accepted: University of Toronto: Social Sciences + Vic One (Pearson Stream) Carleton University: Honours Science University of British Columbia: Arts

Another year actually, I'm pretty sure you get your OUAC information in the beginning of Grade 12, and since you said you're heading into grade 11, no need to worry about it yet :)
