Hey I have a question:

I mailed my declaration form the day before the strike occurred. Since I didn't know how long it was going to last, I handed my form to the university personally as well. After handing it in, I submitted a change on my form (and the changes were made). Now that the canada post is resuming its services, my declaration forms (the ones that I had originally sent via Canada Post prior to the strike) will get there. My question is, should I write another letter for the changes or should I not bother with it?

Keep track of it online. If they notify you that they have made changes to your account, call them and ask to make sure it wasn't because of the old mail now being sent into their office.

Hey, I have a semi-related question. I submitted my online application before the deadline and personally hand delivered my signed forms to the financial office, however; I made a couple of mistakes on my web application and attached a letter explaining and correcting them to my forms. The woman I handed the forms said this was fine and it will be changed.
When should I be able to see that the changes have been made?
No change has made on my OSAP application online yet. I feel like I should contact them just to make sure they made the changes since it's going to make a HUGE difference in my funding.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply!

I know changes you make to your OSAP form do not show up online. The changes will be made at the financial office, but you can't check if it's changed on the osap website.

I guess I will call them in a couple of days to check

Did they verify your income? Did you parents actually make what you said they made? Did the tuition change?

They could. Why not call and ask them?

Hi there, so I check my osap page every day and everything seems like its at a stand still. However under my things to do it still says income verification but shouldn't the CRA have told osap what I've made already? when I applied in March. Also, it said check back Mid June for your assesment but there was no assessment.

I'm supposed to get a good amount of money to pay for school because Im living in a dorm over there and without it I won't be able to go so how long will i have to wait to know if I will actually recieve osap?

No, your income verification is done later in the year - sometimes not until September or October, depending on how busy they are.

OSAP does not cover dorm. expenses, just so you know.

Did you apply on time (mid-June)? If you did, you'll have your funding by September.

Hi,

I know I'm already late but I had a couple questions regarding OSAP applications. If anyone could get back to me in the near future that would be greatly appreciated.

First off, am I still eligable for any OSAP money considering I should have applied by the end of june?

Also, I'm not sure that I can choose courses yet, so how am I to answer what my course load will be, along with start and end dates of my study period.

I'm a first year student going into the BMSc program at Western.

Thank you very much in advance

OSAP will cover some living expenses (if they didn't, why would they even bother giving more than the tuition amount)

Yes. You could apply in January 2012 and still get your money for 2011-2012.

Well are you planning on taking all of the required courses (100%)? Half of them? You could at least estimate that way.

Perhaps I should rephrase then. OSAP gives a loan based on what they think you'll need help with. They may give money above the tuition amount for extra expenses, but just because you say "my residence expenses are $8,000" doesn't mean they'll cover it.

Thank you very much! This was very helpful, simply put. I do plan on taking all my courses, so that would mean 100%, I'm assuming?

Just out of curiosity, any idea how much the Queen Elizabeth Aiming For The Top would be worth? I know I missed the deadline for that indefinitely, though I'd just like to know how substantial it is.

Thank you again

I have a question regarding the signature pages and the QEII scholarship. The deadline to get these pages received by the financial aid office is July 15 (I think). But it also says that it takes 4-6 weeks to process the forms. In order to qualify for the scholarship do these pages need to be processed completely or just received by the office? In other words, if I send them in today (expedited shipping), will I still be able to receive the QEII?

@Kellogg The highest valued amount you can get is $3500,the lowest $100. It is renewable providing you maintain an 80 avg.

Anyone please help! OSAP has misleading info about the QEIIA4T scholarship:

This is what you get when you apply after you login (so you can't link to it)

Declaration and Signatures Pages
You and your spouse or parent(s), if applicable, must sign an OSAP declaration and signature page to indicate that you have read and understand your responsibilities and obligations. This page(s) must be provided before your OSAP funding can be released.

After you submit your OSAP application you will be given the option of printing your declaration and signature page(s) from the website or requesting the ministry to mail them to you.

When to submit
It is very important that you sign and submit your declaration and signature pages as soon as possible in order to allow sufficient time for them to be processed. Do not delay. The completed declaration and signature pages must be submitted before your OSAP funding certificate can be printed by the ministry and forwarded to your financial aid office (or mailed to you if you are studying outside Canada), which can take several weeks. As a reminder, funding certificates will not be released until your study period starts. In addition, there are deadlines by which you must provide the declaration and signature pages or funding will not be released. If you are planning to take a one-term program, the pages must be received by your financial aid office within the first 30 days of your study period. If you are planning to take a two- or three-term program, the pages must be received no later than 90 days before the end of your study period. In order to be considered for the Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship, your declaration and signature pages must be received by July 15, 2011.

The second document stating the deadline is actually June 15:

https://osap.gov.on.ca/O...tal/en...ONT004294.html

Is there anyway I can appeal their misleading info? I really need the money and I saw the first document so I thought I was good. I would definitely have sent it in if they were just clear about what they wanted. scratch

The June 15 deadline is for your online application through the OSAP website (where you list your program, financials, etc.) The July 15 deadline is for the declaration and signature pages which must be sent through mail. If you sent your OSAP info before June 15, but have not mailed your declaration pages then your in the same situation as me (and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not at this moment)

Put that if that's what you plan on doing. Unless you know now that you'd just take a 50% course load while working full time (for example).

It's a minimum $100 and maximum $3,500 per year scholarship, depending on your application and need.

Your application is currently on hold and cannot be processed any further.

Information about your program costs is required from your school. See the Checklist section for details on what is required.

After your school has provided your program costs, your OSAP funding will be calculated. You may wish to follow up with your school to ensure that your program costs have been forwarded to the ministry.

What does this mean? Is there something wrong with my application? I also didn`t send in my cover form with my applicant and parent consent letter? Is this a problem? Also, i submitted my form on June 5/2011, should i have received some kind of reply by now?

Did you apply during the period when there were problems finding the program using the search box? If you entered the name of your program since you couldn't find it with the search thing, then I'm guessing they're just waiting for the school to send the tuition info which is probably built into their database if you were to select it through searching. Otherwise, I don't know what the problem is, but it sounds like they're waiting for the school to send something, not you.

As for the cover sheet, I don't think you need to send it if you already sent in your forms. I sent them an email about this since I didn't send my cover sheet either and they said that it was optional. Also, I didn't get any notification from them when they received my signature pages so I emailed them again (though they probably get lots of emails like this from anxious students...but I just sent it anyways) and they said they received them last month, so they probably received your letters too since you sent your letters so soon. You can email the financial aid office at your university to check as well.

I applied for OSAP in early May and sent off the declaration pages as well. I have not heard from my university or the OSAP office. Just a note---> my friend applied well after me and received a response from the OSAP office about last week.

Thanks

Maybe it depends on the university. I thought that the financial aid office at each university deals with the forms, but I'm not sure about this. Are you and your friend going to same university? I'm going to U of T and they didn't send me any confirmation. That's just my best guess!
