Arthur wrote:Maybe it depends on the university. I thought that the financial aid office at each university deals with the forms, but I'm not sure about this. Are you and your friend going to same university? I'm going to U of T and they didn't send me any confirmation. That's just my best guess! Well I'm going to York's Glendon campus (so I sent it to the Bayview address) and my friend is going to college. Maybe universities and colleges handle things differently; I guess I'll try to contact the OSAP office or Glendon's financial services

hello I got my OSAP funding back and I read from one of army's post that I cannot only take the grant of my OSAP. I won't be needing as much as they gave me because of first year entrance scholarships and university bursary, I was just wondering would the money that I DONT need come out of my grant or loan? I'll still need to use some of the loan, but definitely not as much... will I still be able to keep all of my grant? :S or will that be reduced as well... I couldn't find anything on the OSAP website about this...

You can't just take a portion of that money, but if you could, yes, both the grant and loan would be reduced.

I sent in my Applicant and Parent declaration forms a while ago, actually a few days before the Canada Post strike. I checked the App status once in awhile for two weeks but it kept saying "Student must provide supporting documents." So, I printed out new forms and gave it in directly to the financial office of my school (U of T) a week ago but it still says "Student must provide supporting documents." I'm kinda worried because I want to be considered for the QEII scholarship and it says that I must send in the forms by July 17th (but it says I haven't sent it in -_-)So I was wondering, does this mean that OSAP hasn't processed the forms or the school hasn't received them yet?
Also my school hasn't provided the program costs...do they need this in order for me to be considered for the scholarship?

I don't know if this has been already asked, but is the deadline to send in the condition, supplementary signatures in by July 17 the day the Student Awards have to receive it or postmarked by that date? Especially since the postal strike backlog and all.

I'm quite pissed. My dad gives me his financial information on the date of the deadline and expects me to do everything. He wants to know, how to write a letter to the financial aid office talking about changes to the financial info, if I can send it with the signatures/deceleration (yes I haven't even sent that in), also where on the osap website can I find this information? Because he wants to read the exact words from the website and I doubt he would take questions answered on this forum as proof. Lastly, if I want to appeal, do I contact OSAP or my university's financial office?

He's claiming income figures from last year, which are clearly written on his tax return. How can these numbers change? As for how to write a letter, he should open up Microsoft Word, type with the keyboard, print it, put it in an envelope, and address it to your school's financial aid office. So, Im going into my second year at Queen's but did not apply for OSAP last year, and am doing it for the first time this year. I accidentally completed the online application incorrectly, and I've been spending all summer trying to correct it. I thought it was fine until Queen's sent me an email saying to send my parent's Notice of Assessment so that they could have line 236 to confirm her income. I did so, about a week and a half ago I believe. I checked my application status on OSAP this morning and it still wants me to provide this information, and OSAP has sent me a form on which they want me to provide line 236 once more. My question is, should I just fill this form out and mail it off even though I've provided the information already, or is OSAP just slow in updating the status online? Any help would be much appreciated :) I should probably also mention that I live in Kingston, and provided the Notice of Assessment in person to Student Awards! Queen's History

I just received the assessment of my OSAP. I just have a few questions regarding the OSAP assessment. I received these in grants:
Canada Student Grant for Persons from Low-Income Families - $1919 Ontario Access Grant for 1st Year Students - $2180
And this in loans:
Canada-Ontario Integrated Student Loan - $4314
I know it might be annoying/a nuisance, but do you have to pay back the Grants? Do you receive the Grants all at once? How does the Ontario Access Grant for 1st Year Students work (I heard you get it in your second term)? Does that mean I only have to pay back $4314 and not the rest? I didn't hear anything from the Queens Elizabeth Scholarship. Are we supposed to receive those assessments later on?
I have also been recently accepted to a job. Should I take the job or will that reduce my grants and loans (I'll make approximately 1500-2000)? My family has very low income (Social assistance).
Also just extra info: I'm an arts/science student that received an admissions scholarship for $2000, reducing the $7000 tuition to $5000 (I'm enrolling at U of T).
Thank you for your time and answers.

So, I submitted my application in May . . . I got the assessment telling me everything. After doing a lot of reading on their website and other places, i still don't fully understand how the release of the aid works. Here is what I understand so far: The aid is calculated and released, and you have to go to your aid office at the university. You fill this conformation of enrolment form and take a blank cheque. The aid is released if everything is in order. Then you forward the vertificate or something to some other place. What I don't understand is how the University gets paid? Do you get the money and then you pay the university? or do they pay the university? I'm worried because the first release date is September 6th, but the University website says that the deadline for tuition is September 9th. It seems to me I might be able to pay on time if I have to dod all this mailing that seems to be required. Thanks in advanced! Currently Persuing BSc| Medical Physics, Ryerson University.

^ A lot of universities will have a form you can fill out that will allow you to delay your tuition payment knowing you have loans coming in

Yes you should take the job; it's your duty to work. OSAP also assumes you're going to make $2000 every summer anyways.
