(Mods: Request this is stickied to the top of this forum) OSAP is an enormous program and causes thousands of students grief each year. We're all students. We've gone through it with you. Check out this link before you post here. People had thousands of questions and they were answered there. That should have anything you need regarding deadlines, probation terms, and more. And look, I'm in a giving mood: here is the link to the OSAP Aid Calculator. No one here can tell you how much you'll get from OSAP: we don't work for OSAP nor do we know any magical secret formulas to get you more money. Use the calculator to enter your expenses and they'll give you an estimate on what you could get for your student loan. If you're going to post anything, read that link first!

For OSAP, when i checked for requirements to be eligible it had no mention of family income. So, I was wondering what the income cut-off is for you to be eligible, if that is indeed the case. Thank-you.

I don't think there is a limit on how much your family makes....but the more they make the less you would get from OSAP (but I highly doubt if your parents make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year OSAP would give you money...unless when you are applying for it you say you are getting no money from your parents)

They didn't mention an income cut-off because there isn't one, although you will receive less if your parents make an enormous amount of money. It all depends on your circumstances, so use the OSAP aid calculator.

OSAP expects that your parents will contribute to your education even if they are not. The only way around that is to have yourself legally emancipated (which is ridiculous).

How does OSAP work exactly?
What I've been hearing is that you just fill out an application, get reviewed, and pick up your money.
But how is this process done?
What kind of forms are there?
How do you pick up your money after you're done?
Also, is there a deadline to pick up your payments or can they be done anytime?

Hey I went on OSAP a few days ago and it only had the 2010-2011 application form, If I am starting uni in 2011 would I not want the 2011-2012 application form?

Hey, I just had a quick question. I applied for OSAP about a month ago, I got my estimate, and once processed, I recieved my final amount and the documents that I needed to print off, sign, and give to my financial aid office. Now im curious - Is the due date (mid June) for the actual online application, or are the documents due to my financial aid office by mid June as well? If not, when ARE they due (if I want to get money by September.) Thanks. Applied to:

To encourage the use of this thread, I'll start with a bunch of Q&A's. I have a comfy government job where I'm working in an office during overnight hours 7 days a week. Note if you post a separate thread asking one of these questions, I will report your post as spam and refer you to this thread. And I will laugh at you. lol When is the deadline to apply for OSAP?A: 90 days before the end of your school year. So, if your school year ends April 1, you have until January 1 to apply. Q: I only received $xx,xxx, why didn’t I get more?!A: No one here can answer this question, so don’t bother asking. We’re not OSAP. OSAP uses the aid estimator to estimate how much money you’ll receive based on the figures you input. You may be able to appeal this amount. Keep in mind OSAP is there to supplement your own money and your parents’ contributions. OSAP should not be paying for your entire tuition. Yes, you will have to work and save money and be smart with your finances. Q: How do I submit my signature pages while Canada Post is on strike?A: Via FedEx, Purolator, or UPS courier services. Yes, this will cost money. Yes, this sucks. Write the Canada Post union to thank them. Q: Where do my signature pages go?A: To your university’s financial aid office, as stated on the top of your signature pages, unless OSAP specifically states to mail them back to their offices. Q: Can I just take the grants part of my OSAP loan?No.

Thanks. Your "final amount" isn't final until you go to pick up your loan certificate in September. That's where you will verify what you made and expect to make. The due date was to apply online. But get your signature pages in ASAP.

Thanks. If you did not apply for the QE II scholarship, the due date is what army101 said. Otherwise, the deadlines are July 15 for the signature pages, and July 20 in case of errors and other missing information. But do send any docs in right away. This is the only way to guarantee your app will be fully processed as soon as possible. As for the final amount, how it works is this. If your income (including any scholarships) has changed between the time when you submit the app and when school starts, you are supposed to report it to OSAP so that they can adjust the entitlement. There's even a form to report the change. Unfortunately, I can't find the source right now. Hey I have a question:
I mailed my declaration form the day before the strike occurred. Since I didn't know how long it was going to last, I handed my form to the university personally as well. After handing it in, I submitted a change on my form (and the changes were made). Now that the canada post is resuming its services, my declaration forms (the ones that I had originally sent via Canada Post prior to the strike) will get there. My question is, should I write another letter for the changes or should I not bother with it?

I submitted my online application before the deadline and personally hand delivered my signed forms to the financial office, however; I made a couple of mistakes on my web application and attached a letter explaining and correcting them to my forms. The woman I handed the forms said this was fine and it will be changed. When should I be able to see that the changes have been made? No change has made on my OSAP application online yet. I feel like I should contact them just to make sure they made the changes since it's going to make a HUGE difference in my funding. Thanks
