A few questions, some linked to ones that have already been asked. Nevertheless, I still don't quite understand it.. sorry for being a bother.
I'm heading to University of Toronto next year for Life Sciences. I applied for OSAP, and they gave me an aid of $8784. With the $8784, $4140 is the student loan while the others are grants for low income family and Ontario access grant.
Here are my questions:
1) After breaking down my $8784, how much do I actually have to pay back? Only the $4140?
2) How the heck do I get my aid to be released. The whole process explained on the OSAP website seems to be very broken.
It says "Before any of your funding can be released, your Confirmation of Enrollment form must be completed. This form will be available from your financial aid office at the beginning of your study period, after you have enrolled in and started classes."
Here's what I don't get. Do I get my certificate right after I fill in the Confirmation of Enrollment form at the same time at the financial aid's office of my university? As well, how do I pay for my tuition if I need to use my OSAP to help pay my tuition when the tuition's due on the 23rd of August, while my OSAP will not be released until after the school year starts.
I am just really stressed. I know I shouldn't be, entering university as a freshman.. but I am, really stressed.
Thank you for taking your time to read and possibly answer my question.

1) You only have to pay back the loans, not the grants, so $4140
2) I've never applied for OSAP, but I can tell you that your university will have a way you can pay your tuition later than August 23rd because you are receiving OSAP. I bet you if you told me what university you're going to I can find the information you're looking for

I wrote University of Toronto in the previous post x]. I found it though, it's OSAP deferral, I'm pretty sure. I just don't really understand the process of going there, signing the Confirmation of Enrollment form, and getting the money. Is it the same for every university? I hope someone can clarify this process, because the whole process seems to be VERY broken and out of place on the OSAP website.

Quote:2) How the heck do I get my aid to be released. The whole process explained on the OSAP website seems to be very broken. In September you'll go to your school's financial aid office on the day you're assigned. They'll verify your income one last time, then you'll get a loan certificate that says "your funding is $x, the university gets $y" and then you receive the remaining money of x-y, or you have a balance owing if x didn't cover y. If you owe money, you'll write a cheque/make a payment plan with your university's financial aid office. If you get money back, you'll bring that certificate to a NSLSC centre (usually on campus until October then at Canada Post outlets). They'll process the certificate and you'll have the money in your account within 2 weeks. Simple eh? Quote: It says "Before any of your funding can be released, your Confirmation of Enrollment form must be completed. This form will be available from your financial aid office at the beginning of your study period, after you have enrolled in and started classes."
Here's what I don't get. Do I get my certificate right after I fill in the Confirmation of Enrollment form at the same time at the financial aid's office of my university? If you're registered with the university they'll have the form filled out and sent in for you. If you get your loan certificate your enrolment is confirmed. Quote:As well, how do I pay for my tuition if I need to use my OSAP to help pay my tuition when the tuition's due on the 23rd of August, while my OSAP will not be released until after the school year starts. You should have a "defer payment due to OSAP" option with your financial aid office.

In fact at U of T there is an option online (on ROSI) to defer your payment for OSAP.

Okay so I have submitted all my papers, and under my status summery it says "Your application has processed". I was wondering what should i do now? Is osap going to send me some mail or something? Under things to do it says "Student must complete Confirmation of Enrollment form" when do I do this and do i have to do this before i get funding, also when will the funding be available?

Hello, I have some questions that deal primarily with the OSAP process at UWO. The university talks about OSAP but I am still confused with some matters.
Before fully understanding OSAP at UWO, I paid the full tuition in one installment because the due date for tuition was approaching. Now, I just want to know if it is possible for ALL of the OSAP funds that I will be receiving to be directly deposited into my bank account (assuming I also pay my residence fee in full without OSAP also) when I go to claim it, because right now I'm scared that there may be some underlying issues about the use of OSAP. For example, a portion MUST be used for school purposes and cannot be directly deposited into a bank account or if the school had already deducted my tuition from my OSAP and that I will receive less when I go to claim it.
I also hear that my residence fee will not be able to be paid with OSAP at the moment and will have to be paid with my own money (thus my decision to pay my residence fee in full without OSAP). That will not affect the amount that I get from OSAP, right (e.g., not getting my full amount of OSAP because it had been deducted from it)?

Read the posts above. Your university does that form. If everything else has been processed you're done until you go into your school's financial aid office in September.

Hey, I don't know if this has been answered before but here it is anyway. I recently sent in my OSAP forms and I've been checking the status of my application online. When I checked it today I realized I forgot to send in the Cover Form (the first form) for it. I filled it out and will send it in today but I was wondering if the other part of my application is still valid? I don't know if I should just send the whole application in again. Thanks!

I just finished up my schedule on ROSI, my first semester is 100%, my second semester right now isn't 100% courseload due to classes being filled, just waiting til people drop out to get my classes later in the year. I'm wondering if this will affect my loan?

^ as long as you put in that you're taking a 100% loan on the OSAP app, I doubt they'll check on ROSI. University of Toronto (Trinity College) Honours Bachelor of Arts, Majors in English and Psychology, 2013ish

Hi! I was wondering when I will be able to know how much money I will receive through OSAP. I've done the estimate, but what about the actual confirmation. I sent in my signature sheets around June 10. Do I have to wait 6-8 weeks from that date, or 6-8 weeks after they have processed my application? They have processed my application, and it says I need to verify my enrollment. I know I have to wait until September, and can differ my costs, but I just want to know how much money I will get. Thanks!

Haven't sent in my paperwork yet as my boss is being super slow with providing my proof of income letter - getting it tomorrow though so I'll send everything then. Will I still get my funds released at a normal time or am I super late? University of Toronto (Trinity College) Honours Bachelor of Arts, Majors in English and Psychology, 2013ish
