Likewise for you since it takes one to know one i guess ^_^ heh. fruitpunch9 wrote:I'm shallow. I'd rather not get any extra money. Reputation is everything. Hi Fruitpunch9, I'm not trying to dissuade you from going to Trinity. It's great to see that you're so patriotic about coming to Trinity. I'm just trying provide you guys with some insights about the university system that I wished someone had told me about before I came here. Please feel free to disagree or take this with a pinch of salt. First up, to be honest I think many people are deluded, if i may say so, by this "prestige" that Trinity has to offer. This feeling of "prestige" will soon die down after 1-2years. True enough that students with higher averages get in, but what about it? You are not in an elite community where every soul you see has a 4.0 GPA, NOT AT ALL. There are tons of Trin students who have a 2.0+ GPA lurking around. Professional schools will not bother about which college you are from. Most of your peers, other than fellow Trin students of course, will not bother about which college you are from either. In fact, thinking too highly of yourself coming from Trin can render you a very lonely person... It's your grades and scholarships that really matter when you apply for professional schools. Your friends, who have gone on to other colleges, are VERY LIKELY to receive more scholarships than you in the 4 years, and hence they have a more honorable list in their resume. This is especially important for students intending to go into the Financial Sector in future. Employers can't possibly keep track of which scholarship is "more prestigious" than the other, since there are thousands if not more. They do so by looking at the number of scholarships one has received, or the amount of money each one entails. To further elaborate on my previous post: At Vic, you only require a 3.5 aGPA to qualify for their minimal $1500 scholarship. At UC, if you have an admission average of 92% and above, you may be able to qualify for the $4000 scholarship that is renewable if you maintain a 3.7 in each year. That amounts up to $16,000 over 4 years, mind you. At Trin, you require at least 3.8 (science program, variable by year) and 3.7 (arts program, variable by year too) to qualify for the $250 scholarship. According to the registrars, the highest scholarship money trinity will give is $2500 a year, and there are only a handful of that. A 4.0 GPA will get you a scholarship somewhere from $500-$2500 depending on how high your % is. A 3.5 GPA will not get you any scholarship from Trin. I guessing some of you HS keeners must be thinking: What's a 3.8? I'm so gonna get that 4.0. Well let's see after first year UofT's notorious reputation of being a "dream destroyer" didn't come by easily. Okay I have said my piece. The decision is, of course, yours to make and live with for the next 4 years. Good luck! University of Toronto Undergraduate, Trinity College University of Toronto M.D. Candidate, Class of 2017

Random Trinity fun fact - I was just browsing the Roots website and some of the photos for their new collection are definitely shot there: http://canada.roots.com/...rtb1=category-pos_women

I am just going to reopen this old topic here because I don't want to make double topics pertaining to the same thing. Anyways....
I was asking my friend about what colleges to choose for res next and when I asked about Trin he warned me to stay away, so my question is why all the hate on Trin?

In short, it's cuz you pay the one of the highest (if not highest) college fees and receive the least amount of scholarships (very sure of this). Where does all that money go to? I would like to know about it :) University of Toronto Undergraduate, Trinity College University of Toronto M.D. Candidate, Class of 2017

ArchEnemy, it goes toward student organizations, as well as normal things like renovations and so on. all students have the opportunity to vote at TCMs to determine which clubs/projects get funding and how much. we have some pretty awesome events/parties etc, but if you're not involved with college life and you care where every dollar goes then trin might not be the best for you. cakee, trin just has a bad rep for having snobby people/douchebags... there are some, but it's blown way out of proportion. By and large it's a pretty good college. I am happy with my decision. University of Toronto (Trinity College) Honours Bachelor of Arts, Majors in English and Psychology, 2013ish

Trinity is creepy, pretentious and all the people commit Trincest.
Their frosh is lame, their parties are lame and etc. Most kids I see think themselves superior and are stuck up.
Victoria, St. Mikes and UC are generally the best in regards to social life. Woodsworth doesn't have one whatsoever, rest are decent.
UC is the party college, and is the only one that has a purely sexual frosh chants.
People generally stick to their own college for first year, but I've met so many Vic kids in UC.
Also VIC has the most funding, best location for arts majors too.

Also VIC has the most funding, best location for arts majors too. You are blatantly stereotyping/being ridiculous. There are lots of non-pretentious, non-Trincest-committing people. All the colleges pretty much have good parties. Our frosh is pretty badass. Yours probably is too. And most colleges have sexual frosh chants, though not sure what that has to do with anything. Lots of arts classes are in UC or on St. George Street as well as Vic/SMC... I'd say UC might actually be a better location, but it depends on your individual classes really. Anyway, a bit of extra walking doesn't hurt. University of Toronto (Trinity College) Honours Bachelor of Arts, Majors in English and Psychology, 2013ish
