I applied too!!!! I wonder if their pool of applicants is down this year....because i've seen significantly less interest this year. I'm almost sure I am the only one in my school who applied for it aha.

I think that's a million times worse. :S My OUAC number only had 5 digits, so I was told to replace the - with a 0, but then I realized I was just supposed to add a zero to the end. And I had to retype my application about 3 times because I didn't realize we couldn't use certain characters. I didn't understand what the warning message was saying when I submitted... at first I thought the character set was wrong, so I retyped it. And then I retyped it again... didn't work. Then I finally tried taking out the symbols () and realized I couldn't use those in the phone number either. So after about 45 minutes, I finally got my application through. =( I was literally hyperventilating. I should I have done my app earlier, only I had so many exams! Oh well. If I don't get in to artsci, then that makes my decision making process easier, assuming I get into my other top choice.

As mentioned above, I completely failed the application. Didn't even put in the right OUAC number, and I'm sure I have many typos/grammar mistakes and probably missed parts of my answer because I spent the last hour before it was due retyping it TWICE due to an error. It's probably more likely I'll get struck by lightning 5 times in the same day than it is for me to get in, lol. If I can get in, it'd be nice, but it'd also be a miracle. It was fun though, good writing practice, and at least I tried. :) My reasoning is, if I don't get in, ArtSci probably wasn't the right fit for me anyway. Life has so many possibilities. How did your application go? Since it's over now, what did you write about for your answers (if you care to share?) I'm just curious.

However, I'm not too concerned about the application in comparison to the admissions average b/c to be honest, I'm trying hard to maintain a low 90.. And if I were you, I wouldn't worry TOO much about the application, if you're grades are stellar, you only need a mediocre supp app. As for my answers, I can post them up if you'd like?

Hmm, I heard that the supplementary counts for a lot, like they can add or subtract 5 points depending on the supplementary to your average. It's impossible for me to get a 99 average or close now, so assuming I lose 5 points, I'm probably out of the running. It was worse than mediocre, because like I said, the website was having problems and I was literally hyperventilating, haha. And I'm just not a very good writer. My answers made me seem a little eccentric, and were probably a little overly philosophical, but that's just how I am. :/ They did say "be yourself". But so that people on this forum don't get scared off by me, I'll just summarize what I wrote. :D For the first question, my answer was pretty generic. I talked about how I had a lot of different interests and didn't want to narrow them down; how I felt like all the disciplines were connected, gave examples, talked about limitations in knowledge and how they could be overcome by applying different disciplines. Etc, etc. Second question was my favourite. I talked about piano and music. <3 For my favourite subject, I wrote about biology. Had a lot to say about this one, and I liked it. I honestly learned so much from biology this year, so yeah. The fourth question, I don't even remember which book I wrote about. I had two answers ready, and can't remember which one I decided on in the end when I clicked submit. o.o For the challenge I overcame, I talked about my fear of public speaking. Maybe it's a common challenge, but it was a big one for me. And the last question was the one I found most difficult, but I ended up writing about tutoring and how I it opened my eyes to different ways of learning. I'm just curious what everyone else put, so please share! :) Where else did you apply, ohtheirony94?

I applied too :) I'm way more worried about my marks than about my supp app... For the first question, I had a pretty generic answer about how I hate being pigeon-holed and that I want to know more about everything, not a lot about one thing. On the second, I wrote about knitting (you thought you were eccentric...) I wanted to write about history for my favourite subject but I felt like I covered it in the book question, so I wrote about chemistry instead. I love chemistry. My book was Candide by Voltaire which I read in English and the original 18th century French (sounds impressive, eh?) and I wrote about how it showed me that I don't have to be ashamed that I honestly don't believe that "everything happens for a reason". The challenge was a personal struggle I had dealing with my panic attacks, etc. Lastly, I talked about my experience in musical theatre and how it showed me that everyone has something to contribute, even if I thought they were ditzy at first, lol. And wow your book does sound really impressive. I really wanted to write about a French book but then I thought it might have been too confusing... so I didn't :/ If you have a good supp app, I'm pretty sure that's just as important as the marks, as long as you meet the 88 cutoff mark. I see you got accepted into Knowledge Integration. Congrats!

Candide was the perfect book to write about because even though it's from the 1700s, it's fairly straight forward. A lot of stuff happens in little more than a hundred pages, but at the same time the message is super clear, or at least it was to me. It honestly did change my perspective. Thanks for the congratulations! KI is my top pick I think, so it was super nice to get such an early acceptance. There are 25 electives which is awesome. Plus, the students are super friendly, open and engaged. I feel like McMaster ArtSci won't even talk to you until you're in, which isn't my style. Still, ArtSci is definitely my second option, especially if I have a meltdown and decide I need more structure. What's your other top pick? What's your other top pick? Maybe I'll read that book sometime. In English though, I doubt my French is good enough! Yeah, I talked to people in KI and everyone was so friendly! It sounds like an awesome program and I was so close to applying but in the back of my head I just felt like it wasn't the right fit for me. Reminded me a little of IB (not in a bad way, just the whole philosophy :P) My other pick is Queens Con. Ed (Arts/ Science). I'm freaking out about the supplementary for that too! I probably have more changes with this program than Mac Artsci though, because I honestly messed up this one. And that after that I just applied to Life Sci at UofT and McMaster, as a backup... Looking back though, I think it may be better for me to do a gap year, if I don't get in to my top choices, since I'm 99.9% sure my marks will go up after July (if I keep studying hard).
