To me, there are many ways to be smart. It depends on your capabilities and performance in using a certain group of skills in comparison with the abilities of the peers around you. It's honestly all relative.

One person can be "smart" in mathematics, but struggle to be "smart" in terms of practical skills, while another could be "smart" with their words :)

If you ask my parents, they'll say someone who got those 90s
If you ask me, i'll tell you that smart people are those that can successfully provide food on the table and have a roof to cover their head. Simple!

I would say their ability to understand and cope with the surroundings.

And it's also a degree. Not "smart" or "un-smart," but there are degrees of being smart.

To fifth graders, I'm generally a genius. To my calculus teacher, I'm the biggest idiot in the world.

Compared to Nash and von Neumann my calculus teacher is the biggest idiot in the world.

For me personally, I would say it's the ability to be open-minded about everything around you, and be generally inquisitive about a lot of things. Also, it's the ability to see things from multiple perspectives while having a reconciliatory (is that a word :S?) explanation for those perspectives. Needless to say, it varies from person to person, and there is a great deal of relativity involved with who's 'smart' from whose perspective.

Everyone is smart in their own way. Being "smart" is also relative.

i have a few definitions:

first off, my physics teacher said "education is everything u know once all else is forgotten" thats what i think a smart person can be, someone that is able to keep information without memorizing for the tests/quizzes.

but there are many more definitions. what i think i would stand by the most with for this definition is the following: a smart person is someone who is able to work what they got with and make something out of it. they are able to move up in any aspect of life because of this
if i had a dollar for every time i see someone on this website has 95+...

applied to:
-queens engineering
-waterloo chemical engineering
-u of t engineering science
-mcmaster life science
-western medical science
-waterloo computer science and business double degree
-guelph biomedical engineering
