Wow, thanks for that detailed description. I have been to Waterloo once myself, it wasn't an open house or anything, i drove for 2 hours there just for the heck of it lols. There IS A LOT of geese and i swore i was stepping in geese droppings every minute... The buildings were modern, unlike Queen's campus. I did see a lot of asian people but also a lot of caucasian as well, i would say its like 45/50, with 5% other.

No problem! Descriptive writing is what I do best.

-points to signature- I want to major in English, after all. :P
.
Aha, quite a drive just for the heck of it!

And yes, there are an insane amount of geese. I think it gives the campus character, though! I don't know, I definitely see great charm in the campus. Honestly, I don't want to go anywhere else. It is pretty funny actually because when I was in grade 12 and looking at schools, Waterloo was my last choice. I wanted nothing to do with the place and swore I'd never go there... Then I took a year off, went to Mohawk, went to Sheridan, and am now desperate for Waterloo admission. Funny how things change.

Yeah.. the only reason that i dont want to go to Waterloo is that i heard of all these negative things about Waterloo. Like how boring it is there, how there is no parties and how it is all guys. I doubt that any of those are true and people made them up because a minority of the students hate it there, so they spread it everywhere.

Hmm, I know what you mean. I heard the same things. Honestly, I take those remarks with a grain of salt. Like, anywhere you go is going to be boring unless you put yourself out there. Plus, Waterloo can't be lame if their Frosh Week consists of foam parties. No matter what school you go to, you have to go to the party because the party won't come to you... Unless you go to 'Funshawe,' in which case the riot does come to you, LOL.

But seriously, I am a total believer that the social scene is what you make of it. Surround yourself with people who like to party, and actively go out looking for a good time and you will find it no matter what university you go to. And worse comes to worse, walk down the street to Laurier. We all know that no teaching actually goes on down there, just drunken good times... LOL, I'm horrible today. Dang. :P

As for all guys, I disagree. When I was there, I saw tons of girls. I also have a lot of friends who went to Waterloo straight from high school and only two of them are guys. The other six are girls. Plus, I'm a girl and I'm clearly heavily promoting the school. I don't even go there yet! I mean, maybe the faculty of science will have a lot more guys than girls -- and I know, I'm totally generalising which I shouldn't do, but I have a feeling more guys than girls in the sciences applies everywhere, not just Waterloo -- but who says you can't make friends outside your faculty?

That is so true, i guess you have to see something for yourself to believe it. When you get in Waterloo, we should totally hang out! lol

For sure! Not until you see what 'Loo has to offer will you know for sure. You should attend the open house for admitted students. I believe it is sometime in May. I'm sure they will be going much more in depth on things there since it is only for people who have actually been accepted. It may help you make a final decision.

And yes! I'm in agreement on that one, lol. I'll make sure to bring freshly baked bribery cookies. :3

Haha, will do. Hopefully it is soon... The wait is driving me crazy. I expected to hear something by now since I'm a 105 applicant which means I'm out of high school, and therefore they don't have to wait for any midterm marks or anything. bounce

Also, I should add that this has probably been one of the most enjoyable threads I've chatted in on Studentawards. So far, everywhere else has gotten drowned out by trolls.

People who are honest with you and tell you that the degree you are pursuing is worthless, and that as a woman you are better suited for performing menial tasks (such as cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry) for your significant other, are not trolls. They are simply informing you of how the world works.

It most definitely is. I swear, Quant is literally the most infuriating person I've ever come across and all he is in my life is a screen name. I try to contain myself, but he is such an arrogant -insert incredible amounts of profanity here- that I just cannot withhold a reaction. I know it is only giving him what he is searching for, but I am just so blown away by his level of chauvinism that I can't help myself. I just want to scream.

Trust me, the angrier you get the more pleasure he get's from it. He's a sadistic individual, I wouldn't be surprised if he qualifies as a Psychopath according to the DSM-IV LOL. Try to contain it, he's a major troll, he even trolls people in Engineering saying their math isn't "real math"

I would ignore him at all costs.

I know, it is just so hard. I bet you he does. At the very least, I'm positive he qualifies as a sociopath.

... How can anyone troll people in Engineering? That is more than just his God complex, he clearly is just all about s***-stirring. In the end of the day, people will always be judgmental of you, I know people will probably talk trash about my degree cause to others it may seem "soft" but I don't care I love this field and I'm planning on getting a PhD anyways so people can bugger off when they try to tell me that my B.Sc. will be worthless.

What I'm getting at is this, don't let these "elite" opinions get to you!

I know, and that totally doesn't bother me. I can't even begin to count the amount of times people have judged me or my decisions. That is perfectly fine with me because I truly don't care!

What really gets on my nerves is that infuriating troll's need to belittle my gender and suggest that all I am good for is food, laundry, and sex. He suggests that women are incapable of complex thought, etc. Makes me want to pummel the kid.

He's either fully convinced with his perspective on women or he's just posting this stuff for the sake up bringing up controversy.

-sigh- Either way -- though, I'm pretty certain he believes what he says -- it is hard to ignore.

Must put thoughts on other things, though...

Things such as, "Where the hell are all the metalheads at?" This is just getting sad.
