Hi guys, I applied to ryerson arcitecture, waiting for an admission badly Well, I recieved my midterm marks verbally and with these mark....
MHF4U1 71% MCV4U1 84% SPH4U1 81% ENG4U1 77% AWM4M1 90% AWD4M1 90% AMQ4M1 85%
Top six with MHF4U1 and 2M courses: 82% Top six with 3M courses: 84.5%
Now, I have some questions. 1)I saw the other post says some university requires no more than 2M courses Do you guys know how ryerson states? 2)They require advanced function or Calculas, so will my top six include 3U courses (not including MHF4U1) and 3M courses i've taken? 3) Admission average? anyone knows?
Thank you guys I hope all of you applied architecture program is going to be successful

I don't think your marks are all that important for admission. Your performance on the evaluation is probably a bigger factor. The admission average is 85.9% according to CUDO. I was accepted a couple days ago with an average a bit lower than that, with only physics and advanced functions finished. University of Waterloo: Systems Design Engineering Class of 2017

my accepted average was around 87% (final grades) with 87 physics 93 functions 83 calc 75 english 90 music and 90 technological design. Those are two M courses listed by the way, But I don't really understand the question in regards to that. They only require Advanced functions, not calc I already posted my folio on another post but heres something you can compare yours to if your worried http://www.flickr.com/photos/73381090@N04/ if that link doesn't work search andrewjfalls1 under the people option If you didn't get an acceptance I heard they sent emails if they liked the folio... I would say the portfolio and drawing exercise has to be great for them not to consider your marks to a large degree (people pulled aside) then theres probably an acceptable bunch that get their folio grade combined with their marks to see if you get in thats all just speculation tho haha Ryerson Architecture: Accepted (going) Carleton Architecture: Accepted U of T Architecture (arts): Accepted Waterloo Architecture: Denied UWO bmos: Accepted (lame)

The question was asking if he could have more than two M courses in his top 6. Some schools specify a certain maximum of M courses, but I don't think Ryerson is one of them. So you should be able to use three M courses in your top 6. The only university I know that restricts M courses is Queen's, not sure about the others having a similar policy. Well in that case I think they would always consider english Physics and advanced functions in the top six because their pre requisites. None of this mark stuff will matter if they didn't like the folio. I didn't get in last year with my marks at midterm being similar as my finals which I used to get in this year. Yeah, me too :/ I have yet to hear anything and I wasn't called to the back room. I applied last year as well to Waterloo and Ryerson and didn't get an acceptance to either so I'm hoping for some good news this year. My marks in high school were pretty good, my top six average was 92% so I'm left wondering if my portfolio and sketch/written exercise were really that unimpressive :/ Here's a link to some of the stuff in my portfolio: http://www.flickr.com/photos/77212940@N05/ (if that doesn't work you can search my username: tangcy1) Any kind of feedback would be awesome, love it or hate it please feel free to be brutally honest :)

That's some really original stuff, looks great. I personally didn't have anything too unique, just some paintings and sketches and stuff. I honestly think the precis got me in, I can't think of another reason... University of Waterloo: Systems Design Engineering Class of 2017

They told us to summarize everything in a maximum of 250 words, I did it in about 150..maybe I didn't cover all the main points?
Do you know of how many other people received acceptances so far? I know they send them out late April so I'm assuming the first wave of acceptances are going out now.
Gah this is just so frustrating, ha and considering my Waterloo interview is this Monday the nerves and lack of response from Ryerson is really getting to me...

I think my word count ended up being something closer to 300, but I finished with a lot of time to spare so I felt very comfortable. Reread it a couple times to check for some mistakes/revisions. The sketching exercise on the other hand... University of Waterloo: Systems Design Engineering Class of 2017

I had time to read over my precis maybe once, but felt pretty confident about my sketch exercise. Any chance we could see some of the pieces from your portfolio?

Yeah sure. http://i1171.photobucket...175/Portfolio/Train.png

There's a couple more but uh... consider these the betters one on the spectrum. Since the sketching exercise asked for two techniques, I drew 2 drawings, one of them with less than five minutes left on the clock... definitely don't think I did well LOL. I kind of suck at sketching, so I actually drew the room from the perspective of where you enter the room, because the symmetry of the room made it much easier for me to draw. My other drawing was some type of floor plan that was honestly absolute sh*t. University of Waterloo: Systems Design Engineering Class of 2017

Already put this on a lot of posts but: my precis was less than 100 words, My drawings were elevation of the room, floor plan and perspective from where I was sitting. search Andrewjfalls1 under the people option on flickr for my folio I wasn't called back but I was accepted (87%final average ) Ryerson Architecture: Accepted (going) Carleton Architecture: Accepted U of T Architecture (arts): Accepted Waterloo Architecture: Denied UWO bmos: Accepted (lame)

Or did you get an email saying that they liked your portfolio?

I only got an email saying that they were impressed with portfolio, along with my sketch and written submissions. But I didn't get an acceptance yet :( I'm thinking they want to see my midterm marks.. My marks were pretty unimpressive (~85% range), so I don't think they're too concerned. Just keep checking, I'm sure it'll come this week... University of Waterloo: Systems Design Engineering Class of 2017
