I cant comment on ICS4M as i took ICS4U but I doubt it can be that different. All I can say is that if you have a genuine interest in programming and computers, you'll do fine in the course. Most of it is self taught as there really isn't much to teach. I feel that having previous knowledge on how to program really helps a lot. Even if it is just bbcodes (the stuff used when writing in forums such as this one) or html.
Marks: ICS3U: 87% - Had a teacher who didn't like me much because I hated too much about the macs (I really really hate macs ;_;) ICS4U: 100% - This guy went to waterloo and worked for IBM for a good 20-30 years till he retired (also the first owner of the IBM PC in Canada). Had no problems with him as we both disliked macs lol :D
All in all, it really depends on your teacher and the interest you have in the course. I'd take ICS4U all over again if I could, really fun and easy. A nice mark booster (got an offer from UofT thanks to it :P)

It depends on the school, really. Based on these forums, it seems ICS4U is a bird course at some schools, while its actually somewhat difficult at my school. Our class average is around the low to mid 80s, and the highest mark was around 95. So the difficulty could vary based on your teacher... you can only really find out by asking people who've taken the course at your school. My teacher was pretty anal about liking the way you explained stuff (written tests) and the way your program worked (programming test) so it was difficult to get 100%, even for the kids who've been programming for >5 years. Considering only the raw content, its really not that bad. University of Waterloo: Systems Design Engineering Class of 2017
