So I took two spares this year because they are very helpful, decreasing the amount of stress. But I took a grade 12 course last year. My question is, would if my midterm mark drops, will I be able to use my other mark or are the midterm marks they used the same as the Final?

My Marks:
Final
Computer Science 85
Advanced Functions 83*
English 90*
International Law 85

Midterm
Calculus 85*
Physics 86
Data Management 90

*Required courses

So I have a total of 7 Grade 12 U/M courses. The ones that are used for my midterm was:

Advanced Functions
English
Calculus
Physics
Data Management
Computer Science or International Law

Backup:
Computer Science or International Law

My physics mark doesn't seem like it will stay at 86 forever. If it drops below 85 (my other grade 12 class) will unis use my other class or am I stuck with the setup they chose at midterms?

Since the course you took last year is a grade 12 course, you'll be able to use it in your top 6 as long as the other course you drop from your top 6 isn't a prerequisite.

kk Thanks. Do you also know if the unis (Waterloo, Uoft etc) ask for ALL marks to be over 70? They say they only look at the prereqs + next top but will they look at marks <70?

I'm not 100% sure what you're trying to ask.

They only care about your pre-requisite marks, and the average of the pre-reqs and the next (in your case 3) best marks. If one of those 6 were under 70 then yes they would look at it, but if your best 6 (incl. pre-reqs) are above 70 then they don't really care.

In short, if your physics mark drops, it won't matter. Just keep the average you need to keep the conditional offer.
