I have a friend who goes to Mcmaster and she absolutely loves it!
I go to York and it is great! Very busy but you can receive help when you need it, writing labs, test centers, etc.
I have friends who go to Ryerson as well and they enjoy it!
When you get accepted see which program interests you more, look through the courses you will be doing and the ones you can choose from and see what suits your interests

Uh...thanks for being utterly useless.

In the old thread, I think it was established that multicultural universities in Ontario include U of T, York, McMaster, Waterloo, and not Queen's.

Any of the unis in Toronto are pretty multicultural (York, Ryerson, U of T). Mac is pretty well rounded too.

Heard that it's pretty multicultural, but it depends on the program too.

Haha! Yeah, that's for sure. Eg. Engineering & AFM although I don't want to be stereotypical...

Western seems pretty multicultural although many label it as a white uni...

Tough question, as it means different things to people. If purely looking at outward appearance, Canada is already so diverse in ancestry background, it is hard to tell.

The Toronto University's you would think tend to be more diverse, due to the population concentration of more recent immigrants. Queens does appear very White and Chinese walking around campus - but look at their student club mix. The Waterwoo math building looks like downtown Beijing on some days (smile).

Two ideas to explore:

Look at the list of student clubs on the campus. Do they have what you are looking for ? Larger schools may have more clubs and hence more opportunities. The smaller Religion-centered Colleges tend to be less diverse due to their intended focus.

The website below shows stats for each school. Go look at "Student Life - Geographic origin of first year Students". It shows percent of students from outside Canada (if that equates to multicultural ?).

Might surprise --- check out Carleton #'s as example.

--- York 3%, Ryerson 2%, Queens 5%, Carleton 13%

If you really want a multi-cultural experience at school in Canada - check out McGill.

Also consider an exchange in your 2nd or 3rd year. Go to the culture instead of it coming to you.

Cheers,
Rx

Define most "multicultural". If you are looking for a school that has the highest proportion of students born outside of Canada, I think it would be U of T. But U of T is also 50% Asian.

No, it isn't (at least that's not the impression I got everyday).

True story for AFM, and Engineering actually contains a lot of white folks. our ratio of brown:yellow:white:black for our class is like 3:3:3:0.1. well, theres 1 black guy in our class.

i think by multicultural, we mean that you see groups of various cultures hanging out together? cause at waterloo, even though we have a lot of east asians and brown people, a lot of them in the end will tend to go with their own race. not sayin that asians dont make friends with white ppl at all, its just really noticeable here.

Yep. Western isn't too bad. I'd say 55% white, 30% asian, 14% brown, 1% other. Like anywhere, you don't see many mixed-race groups, though I'd say Western is a lot less divided than U of A and pretty much any place else I've been to. Though I think that when people are looking for multicultural places, that's essentially what they're looking for: enough people of their own race/culture/nationality around to form their own little divided groups.

Oddly I know TONS of brown people going to Waterloo this year and only one or two going to mac.

You can probably get a good gauge if you join your dorm fb group. Mine shows the general populace being about 50/50, if not slightly leaning towards more brown kids. Oddly enough very few asian students.
