I got admitted for UBC Okanagan for Sciences back in April for their first round of admissions.
My question is:
How is campus life and the capus itself overall? I've never been Kelowna before, everything I've seen is through pictures :(
How is the Science program at UBC Okanagan? Is it the same program as the one in UBC Vancouver?
Also, how is transferring from UBC Okanagan to the Vancouver campus? Is it difficult? Because I live in Vancouver, it would be nice if I was able to transfer...

I also got accepted to SFU for communications, but I've talked to some SFU students that say I can still take science courses and eventually transfer to the SFU science program...

But anyways, anything about UBC Okanagan that anyone can help me will be quite helpful.
Since I need to accept an offer by tomorrow, it would be nice if I could get a reply ASAP.

Campus is small compared with Vancouver, but it's advantages are that you get used to it VERY QUICKLY. As opposed to Vancouver, you just have no idea where you are sometimes. Kelowna itself is a "big" town. It has beautiful scenery and an awesome place if you like nature.




You gotta tell us what Science program you are in. Physics, biology, chemistry? I can comment on a few

The Physics department is somewhat small and weak. None of the profs are what I would say 'easy' (there are only like four of them who are teaching, some have retired and the department started hiring postdocs every year), but they get the job done.

The Chemistry department is relatively bigger. In fact, it's probably the most popular science program at UBCO. The profs are the same as UBC Vancouver, hit and miss. You get good ones and sometimes bad ones.

The Math Department is probably the best program here. The Optimization team at UBCO I believe is one of the country's finest. UBC Vancouver cannot even compete with UBCO in this respect (though UBCV may be better choice if you are totally undecided because it is very diverse with other fields). This is probably because all the profs are part of OCANA. I honestly cannot bad-mouth any Math professors here (I've taken up to 3rd year level).

I think most of the faculty members in Computer Science are part of OCANA, so the profs aren't too bad. But the faculty is also very small, but still bigger than the Physics department.


I unfortunately have no information on Biology or any other science programs.
