Ok, so I'm going to ask the typical question that has been asked like a gazillion times - how hard exactly is life science at St. George? Currently I only have a 90 average, and from my research the overall average of all the applicants is freakin' 88%!! I honestly never wanted to go into UT St. G, but rather to UTM, but until June 30 I was planning to take commerce at UTM! :o
But yeah, basically, can you tell me what average you got in high school and in first year life science at Uoft St. George (percent wise), please?

Also, if I plan to switch to UTM, when should I be applying to the other university?

Lastly, I'm not too sure what other courses to take... At the moment, I'm planning to take BIO120H and BIO130H, CHM139H and CHM138H, MAT135H and MAT136H, and SOC101Y, but I don't have a fifth credit, so what would be a good course(s) to enroll in for my last credit? And is PSY or PHY (which I hate) a good idea to take?

I'm hoping to get into pharmacy school, but do you think I'll survive? :O

Thanks in advance for the help! :)

A few more questions:
Would it be better to switch into UW or UTM for second year?
And is there any way to do well at UTSG?

Mcmaster is probably the best school for life science if you wanna switch. UTM would just be the same difficulty with a different location and weaker competition (not 88% average)

Yes there is a way to do good at UTSG. They have a bell curve and you just have to do better than 70% of the class. Based on high school average your already ahead, 90% is a solid average to have.

Serious Business

York- African Studies --> Rejected
Nippissing- Commerece --> Rejected
Laurentian- Communication --> Rejected
Algoma- Anishinaabemowin --> Waiting

UofT- Engineering Science --> Waiting (Pleasee)

You don't understand how comforting it is to hear that! Even if it has been a little bit sugar coated! xD So thanks!
I was also hoping to get a percentage of the amount of students in the life sci program at UTSG that achieve 4.0... Hope someone can answer that..

Hi, I'm in physics, but in first year I considered being a lifesci major so I took all the relevant courses. My vantage point may be biased but I will try to answer your questions faithfully.

How many students get 4.0 in a specific course like BIO120? About 15%. For smaller, harder and more intimate courses, the number may be higher, perhaps up to 40%.

How many students achieve a 4.0 cumulative GPA? Almost no-one.

I have retained my 4.0 and a few of my friends have as well, but we're probably the elites. In the entire life science program there may be not more than two dozen first year students with a perfect 4.0 cGPA. The average GPA is something like 2.1, to put things in perspective. If you want to keep a 4.0 GPA, you will have to retain an 85% or above in every single course you take, and this is no trivial feat.

Can you really get into pharmacy school? I don't know you, so I can't comment. You have to work hard, find the subject interesting, and be somewhat intelligent. Pharmacy is competitive, but it's not as elusive as medical school.

Based on the limited information I have, the top 5-10% of students will get into med/dent/vet, and the next 5-10% might get into pharmacy school. You'd have to test the waters yourself and see where you stand relative to the crowd.
