Hi everyone! I'm in an odd situation and unsure how I should go about it. I'm a Canadian currently living in France until July to work. By July it will be a 10 month leave without any dependence on either parent. I lived with my mom up until I left because my dad is very ill. My mom makes too much money for me to get my schooling covered by osap but she won't help me. I'm wondering if since i've been away for so long it would be alright to claim dependence on my father when applying?

I have applied for OSAP 2012-2013 year on May 1. Submitted the Master financial plan form and took it to designated post office. The Canada Post person was upset that she did not got any email from ministry that they have changed the form. Anyhow, I have to plead with her to accept my form :(
The other form went to school financial office. My question is that my osap status is saying" status will be available in late May" so what does it mean ?
I am a single mother and my osap was denied based on poor credit history, last year. I appealed and explained my situation and personal struggles ( victim of abuse and all). Only then my OSAP was accepted. I am in the second year and really want to finish my degree. But its not possible without OSAP assistance. Any thoughts ???
Thank you in advance. God Bless I've been wondering the same thing. I'm not impatient as to finding out whether my application is processed but more-so whether I have passed or failed the credit check, which is my main catalyst for the next action I take. Does the message "Information on the status of your application will be available late May" suggest it hasn't been touched, or is that significant of passing the credit check? I applied Monday night, (Apr 30, 2012). Also, is the credit check done automatically based on SIN number (arbitrary time frame) or is it a dynamic length of time based on the volume of the applications? First time applicant, I've been searching all over the web but can't find a distinctive answer to these questions.

Hey,
I applied for OSAP as part-time for summer courses (but didn't send in signature pages) but then I added another course and now I'm full time. I wanted to know if OSAP for part-time won't be processed since I didn't send in the signature forms or what should I do to get it to full-time OSAP?
Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry if this has been answered already but I couldn't find it in the thread so I'm going to ask. On the OSAP form it asks for your income for the 2012 year. Currently I have been unemployed for a year due to lack of available jobs but I am trying to find one for summer. Since I don't know if I'm going to have a job for summer or not should I just put my income as $0 or should I say $500 or $1000 just in case I get a job? Also if I do put $0 and then get a job after how do I notify OSAP of this and how much would it affect me by? Thanks for your help in advanced by the way.

I believe you put $0 and if changes you need to inform your school financial aid office. It says that in the application.

I have completed the application for OSAP and UTAPS for 2012-2013 but I made a mistake. I am supposed to enter my parent's tax returns for the year 2011 but I accidentally entered my parent's tax returns for the year 2010
I have no idea what to do right now.
Can anyone help please?

Hey guys I did the OSAP estimate calculator and it said I would be getting $15,000 from them ($7k grant and $8k loan). I'm confused about this because I thought the maximum funding from OSAP is $13k? Or is that just for the loan part? Can someone please clarify this for me, thanks! Applied to:
Brock University - Computer Science [Accepted] McGill - Computer Engineering [Accepted] McMaster - Engineering I [Accepted] Queens - Engineering [Accepted] Western - Engineering [Accepted]
Attending: McMaster Engineering - Class of 2016

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but after I submitted my OSAP application online, when should I submit my Master Financial Plan?
Do I wait for a response from OSAP first or do it immediately after I submit my app? ><

I have a question it seems maybe only someone here could help me with.
I applied and received OSAP funding this previous fall for a program that I really want to continue with in the future. I had to drop out due to personal problems in my household and I'm not really sure what to do now since I want to go back to school September if possible to redo courses or in January for my second semester which I flunked out on. Now the problem is I know you have to start paying back your OSAP loans 6 months after you graduate, finish or drop out of a program but I don't know if that means I have to pay the loan back before I can receive more OSAP funding or not. Since I don't have the money to pay for my semester and it will be very hard for me to pay the loans back without a job ( + low income family ) and fast enough to get back to school I was wondering if there was any way they would just add the new funding to the rest of the loan I owe? or do I have to pay it either first or while I'm receiving more OSAP during the year?
If someone could help it would be appreciated ! thanks!

Do I wait for a response from OSAP first or do it immediately after I submit my app? >< Not sure where you are from, but here in Ontario, you actually mail the OSAP application to the Financial aid office of the school you will attending. The Master Financial Plan you take it to the designated post office and give it to the clerk. Make sure you remember to take your ID.

Do I wait for a response from OSAP first or do it immediately after I submit my app? >< It tells you right on the form and online: you need to submit your MFP at your local Canada Post office BEFORE OSAP processes anything for you.

Hello everyone, I recently accepted my Waterloo Life Sciences Co-op offer. On OSAP I cant find such program under its "search program" step.
If anyone could lead me in the direction, would be great.
Thanks,
Jonathan

I have already applied for OSAP Online, however during the process they asked for my student number. Not knowing that my " Ryerson Number" is the Student number that they needed, I left that part blank. However, asking for my student number, that part was clearly stated as optional. But I feel like I should tell them my student number, now that I know what they want. Should i just leave it or ask them to make the change?

Hi,I am about to apply to OSAP but I am unsure about something.
I have an RESP I am planning to use to pay for some of my tuition but I also plan on using OSAP to pay for some of my residence costs.
First, Is this possible?
Second, If yes, then what do I put on the OSAP application where it would ask me if I am cashing in on RESP/Education savings plan?
If I put I am not cashing in on an RESP, but in reality I do use my RESP, will OSAP automatically reduce my OSAP loan or will they find out and screw me over?
If I tell OSAP that I am using an RESP and I still need OSAP assistance will they provide me significantly less money?
Also, If I get a job for the summer, and I make about 1.5k lets say, When should I notify OSAP about my job and the money I earned?

First, Is this possible? YES
Second, If yes, then what do I put on the OSAP application where it would ask me if I am cashing in on RESP/Education savings plan? If you are cashing say yes and what amount. You don't have to use up your entire RESP. You can use the balance in 2nd year or even for your graduate school.
If I put I am not cashing in on an RESP, but in reality I do use my RESP, will OSAP automatically reduce my OSAP loan or will they find out and screw me over? You can't lie; they will find out when you get the T slips to do your income tax; not sure what the penalty for lying
If I tell OSAP that I am using an RESP and I still need OSAP assistance will they provide me significantly less money? Depends , if you are withdrawing significant amount. You can have RESP, and don't have to use for your education. If it's not used ,it just goes back to the contributor of the program.
Also, If I get a job for the summer, and I make about 1.5k lets say, When should I notify OSAP about my job and the money I earned?[/quote
You estimate it now if not you let the school financial aid office know later if your estimate is incorrect. Basically , if anything you write on the form is incorrect, you MUST inform OSAP .
I am in the exact situation as you are: will not be using my full RESP, will be working in the summer and I did give them a reasonable estimate just to be on a safer side.
