So I submitted my OSAP application and then someone told me for the parent financial information I was supposed to subtract line 421/422 from line 435 (What is Parent 1 total tax payable as indicated on line 435 of his or her 2011 Canadian income tax return?). When I submitted my application I just put the amount that was on line 435. Can someone confirm for me that line 421/422 was supposed to be subtracted from line 435. Thank you!!

You just report income from Line 150 which is the Total Income .I don't recall subtracting anything. It says very clearly on the OSAP application which line.

Do we get some kind of confirmation once our MSFAA has been received by the school?

Not sure; I didn't get any. But someone in this forum did mention only if everything is OK with your application, you can see your estimate and I could see mine.

So if you can see your estimate everything is fine? Because I can see my estimate, but when I click Check Status it just says:

Quote:
Current Status
Your application is being processed.

Please check back in mid-June for information about your funding.

Checklist
Things to do:
Student must provide supporting documents
Things to review:
Income Verification

When I click the link of things to do: it brings me to a page that says Documents you Must Provide: MSFAA and none of the other ones from earlier.

I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as me or knows if I should be worried about my situation. When I check my status is still says to come back in mid-June and that they are verifying my income with CRA. I'm only asking at all because it's already the past mid-June and almost the end of the month and also I noticed that some people can already access their information and can see an estimate. Should I be concerned or is sort of delay normal for OSAP? After all, I submitted my application on May 12th and I'm not sure if that's considered late for the 2012-2013 school year.

I'm in the same situation here, I live down in Windsor and I am planning on going up to Humber College in Toronto in September. The problem I am having is that my Tuition due date is coming up on June 27th and OSAP Still hasn't gotten back to me on if I am getting it or not. I literally have to know by Friday at the latest where I would have to rush off to Canada Post and express mail out my deferrable to OSAP to the financial office of Humber for me to be able to keep my spot in the program.

I also ran into the problem where Canada Post called me up and told me something went wrong with my MSFAA and told me to call them back, which when I did a day later they had no clue what I was talking about and never got back to me on if I should re-submit my MSFAA.

This is getting extremely frustrating because I only have $1000 in my bank and dont turn 18 till the 23rd (so no credit card for me to throw the funds on while I wait). I am running out of options and dont know what I should do. For the past two weeks the OSAP Website has told me "Please Check Back in the Middle of June for your status" and I get nothing, just a few days ago the "Check your estimate" finally showed up for me on my account and it looks good for what I need, but still no information on if I got it or not. Should I call up my college to see if I can get a slightly later date, or is there a number I can call OSAP at. How does this work.

Your university is your only contact point; OSAP wouldn't help you or answer any questions even if you did call. Call your university's financial aid office and ask them to extend the deadline. Explain that OSAP is slow and unpredictable, like everything else the Ontario Liberal government touches. Hopefully they'll understand and extend the date, or help yell at OSAP for you.

HI All

When I used the OSAP estimator several times it said the would receive 12,200
I applied for OSAP in MAY but it did not provide estimate once application was finalized.
I checked to today under check status and it says the estimate is 8,670, I verified
that all the info on application was the same as I used in the estimator tool.

Why is there such a big difference from the estimator tool and the estimate OSAP provides now almost $4,000 lower???

The estimated cost for tuition, residence and books is 13,500

Will the amount go up when application fully approved, is it possible there is still more to be added?

My school emailed me to say they got it, but I'm sure it's different for everyone.

If you entered the same identical information there shouldn't be that big of a difference. But with that being said, they gave you an estimate - just an estimate - and now you have the real figures.

The OSAP Website says what the new MSFAA doesnt get sent to your school. You're suppose to send it to one of the specialized Canada Post Offices

Hi,
Every time I log in to the OSAP website it just says under Current Status "Your application is being processed.

Please check back in mid-June for information about your funding."

When I check the humber srs.humber.ca website it says that the deadline for tuition is this Wednesday.
The problem is that I do not have the money to pay my tuition, which is why I needed OSAP. OSAP hasn't told me anything other than my stuff is being processed.
If I miss paying the deadline then I'll lose my spot.
I've read that you can do a Fee Deferral where you pay 200 on the deadline and then they extended the time you have to pay your fees because you're on OSAP, but you can only request a Fee Deferral if you qualify for OSAP and stuff but my thing is still being processed so I can't even do that..

What should I do? Am I going to lose the spot even if I call Humber and tell them my OSAP is still being processed?
I handed in all the documents needed before the deadlines so I don't know why it's taking so long and I'm super stressed about this..

I applied for OSAP on May 10th and I sent in all my documents needed. MSFAA thing to Canada post outlet and the rest of the documents to Humber. I spoke with a financial aid at humber and told me that OSAP is running late and you can pay your $200 fee even though OSAP does not have a decision. My only problem is that I don't see an estimate of my program and it's in the process of verification of income and since my credit isn't great, I probably won't get accept but I will have enough money to pay for the 1st semester and then figure out what to do the second semester..

Pretty much to all the humber students, you need to call the financial aid office and pay your $200 fee so it can be deferred to september/etc. People without credit cards, I don't know what to tell ya...

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND SEE YOU IN HUMBER!

Thank you so much! I just needed confirmation that I can actually pay the deferral without OSAP completely done with my documents.. thank you.

Hi,

I have a question regarding the due date of my OSAP forms. Im going to Queen's next year and they said that "Recommended OSAP application submission date for students to allow sufficient time for funding to be available in September" is July 1 and that's a Sunday. Does that mean that they must receive the forms by July 1 or it has to be postmarked before July 1?

Thanks in advance!

OSAP won't be releasing your funding until September or October, which is why you should have deferred your tuition deadline until that time frame. Were you not told this?

You can apply for OSAP up to 90 days before the end of your school year, so you have until January or so to apply.

The July 1 deadline is so that we receive the funding before the school year starts so that we can pay for our tuition with the OSAP money and I would like to conform with the deadline that the university has set up.
My only question is if it is a receiving deadline or mailing deadline. Please address if they are to receive my OSAP forms by July 1 for this deadline or simply post-marked before July 1.

Thank you!

Hey guys, I don't know if anyone asked this, but I'm gonna ask it anyways. How long after you submitted your MSFAA did it no longer show up as a document that you still need to submit on OSAP online. I submitted my MSFAA to Canada Post in SQ1 on May 29th, and OSAP still says I have to submit it. Same with my documents, I sent them via registered post on May 29th and it reached UFT on May31st, but it still says that I have to submit them. Do I submit them again? Thanks guys.

I believe it's the post-marked date.
