If my parents are paying for a portion of my tuition during August with a cheque, do I have to include the amount they are contributing in my income made during summer?

No, but they will readjust your loan.

Ahh, good that clears me of worrying that I would have to mail them to readjust my amount.
Thank you very much, you've been a lot of help.

OSAP updated they're posting to "Your application is being processed. Please check again at the END of July".
A little further ahead.

I did the OSAP estimator and it says that I get absolutely no money, in loans or grants, from OSAP.

Should I still apply? Apparently, I still get the $2215 tax credit... (do I?)

Could the estimator be off? My university is 200km away from where I live....

I just have a question about the course load percentage.

Should I put 100%?
I know that if you're full-time, it has to be over 60%, but a friend of mine said that her brother had chosen 100% for his OSAP last year, which meant he had to take 5 courses (per semester, i'm guessing?), but then he dropped one of them and OSAP regarded it as a "failed course." So then her brother had to write OSAP a one page letter of explanation.
:/

Also, if I put a percentage less than 100%, that means I'll be receiving less amount of money, right?

Thanks in advance.

What do I do if my OSAP application says I'm in a different program than the one I actually applied for? Currently, it says I'm in some random program but then when I check the details of my application, it reverts back to the correct program that I applied to.

Would I have to call OSAP or call my school about this problem?

The estimator is exactly that - an estimate. There's no harm in applying.

I signed up for OSAP in June, I assumed I would make about $3000 over the summer but I ended up not getting a job in July but I will have one during August. So my problem is that I won't be making $3000 but less about max $1500, would this effect my chance of getting OSAP because my estimate was off by a lot? I'm also wondering what will happen if I work Part time when school starts because when I applied I put $3000 for how much I would have earned from Jan 2012- Dec 2012, the $3000 being what I assumed I would get earn during the summer.

Well are you taking 100% or not? Write the proper percentage.

Call your school to have it fixed.

You can update your estimates anytime - whether that's now or when you pick up your loan in September. When you do they'll adjust your loan amount.

I'm doing my OSAP right now and it's asking if I own vehicle. My family own 2 cars and both were bought by my father. My dad and I are the only licensed people in our family and we each drive one car. However, the car insurance and the car I drive are under my father's name because he bought it for me, but I am according to the insurance, considered the primary driver for one of the cars. I use my car to go to school and my dad uses another car for his work.

So do I put that I own this vehicle because I use it? OR am i not considered an owner of the vehicle because it is under my father's name?

Thanks for the reply, how do I update my estimates If I want to do it now?

If you are not the owner of any vehicle, then nothing for you to worry.

To NOT be considered a Dependant Student, one of the ways is to have been out of school on two seperate occasions for 12 months or more, or, to have been out of school 4 years prior to study period.

My question: For the 12 months or more periods, does that mean 12 months before my study period or my application date? I graduated Jun/11 and am attending college in Sept/12, and i was out of school for 4 years on another occasion. Am an Independant? And if i applied as a Dependant and should be an Independant, who do i notify and how soon should i do so?

I would assume it would be 12 months before your study period, not your application date. Besides, if you've been out of school for 4 years on one occasion I assume that would put you in your mid 20s in which case you would certainly be a independent student

Say you've filed for OSAP on time, but you will not have supporting documentation in until mid-August, ex. Academic Probation Letter/MSFAA forms, will it take you longer to receive your income in September?

Do you own the vehicle or not? That's what OSAP is asking - do you own it or not?

Yes. They needed everything done by June in order to receive OSAP in September.

I filled out my application and sent away my declaration pages in June on time. I was a little confused so I left my MSFAA until recently. I figured that the MSFAA had no actual usage towards the processing of my application because it's just bank account information regarding the release of funds right so why would they need it to provide me with a calculation of funds available. After reading a few posts on here I feel as though I was really wrong in that assumption. So basically I'm asking if I screwed myself over for having my funding released on time even though it was the MSFAA I left until after June. I need to have my student account deferred for OSAP but I can't defer the account unless I'm approved for funding.
