Hey. I wanted to know should I get a message on osap saying that the university has received my other documents forms, with my signature and my parent signature forms. I received a message that they received the MSFAA but no indication of the other forms.
Should i call my financial aid office and ask?

Should i call my financial aid office and ask? There will be a reference number , but that number came in weeks after the MSFAA confirmation.

You really don't have enough info about my situation to justify blindly labeling it as such, and honestly, if that's your attitude then I'm not going to waste my time sharing it. durian wrote:Your mom probably need to fire her accountant. Even if her income is zero , she should still file it in order to get GST refunds /Ontario tax credit refund and if there are any other younger siblings then she is entitled to get Child tax benefit.
Anyway, it's not too late for her to do her tax return. Should be able to get confirmation from Canadian revenue agency within a month and then you can apply for OSAP. In the mean time, I think you can ask your fees to be deferred but they will definitely charge you interest since you won't be in the OSAP system yet before the schools starts. Thanks for the pointers, we'll be doing that ASAP. Just have to wait for one last set of documents to come in. Fortunately the interest for my tuition isn't too horrible...

You asked what could be done - even after you know you've been disqualified from receiving OSAP - to still get you OSAP. In other words, you have the knowledge that you're not eligible for funding, but you want the funding anyway. Sounds like fraud to me.

Except I didn't know that I had necessarily been disqualified from receiving OSAP. And after further investigation, it became clear that was not the case. We didn't *actually* meet any of the criteria for mandatory tax returns (mutual funds only qualify if it involves a capital *gain*). You didn't have enough information.

The online application is generally accurate. Unless the information you filed is somehow different, what it told you online is probably correct...

(From 299xx to 296xx I don't remember the exact numbers lol) OSAP has already received my parents' consent pages, so if I were to tell my school about this would it cause a significant delay on my funding? And how much of an impact will this change make? Net income dropping is good news though I don't think it will affect your funding in anyway cause you are likely getting max OSAP . You can just e mail your school financial aid office with the new info. There shouldn't be any delay. I checked OSAP today and it says that they have already verified my parents' 2011 income on the 17th, nothing else has changed though, so looks like I won't need to contact my school. Thanks anyway~ And yes, life is unfair, get over it.

My OSAP funding summary only says I'm receiving 2 grants, one for low income families and one for "Ontario tuition grant"
It says nothing about an OSAP loan.
Is this normal? Will it show up in September?

Is this normal? Will it show up in September? Yes, it's possible. Low income family grant is $250 per month(fixed) guaranteed to the max of $3K per academic year. IF your assessed need is say $1500 , you will get $2K for the 8 months of study and you don't get a loan. If the assessed need is $5K, you get the $2K (for the 8 months of study) , and $3K in loan. Tuition grant is also guaranteed $1680. In your case OSAP felt the combination of the 2 guaranteed grants is more than enough.

Im going into second year in the fall. I received 3500 for qe2 in first year and kept all the requirements for renewing it. On OSAP, it says to check in mid august, but august is almost ending... I was just wondering if anyone has already received confirmation for the scholarship or if I should wait more.

So i applied for osap an my estimated amount was $6200 but when i log on today it says that "Your OSAP funding has been calculated. Go to Funding Summary on the left for amounts.", an it say im eligible for 0 dollar. Dose this means i been rejected and if so how do i find out why so i can go try to appeal.

You will be relieved to know that it's not permanent. I handed in my forms to my Financial aid office, and mailed my MSFAA on Friday, all weekend it said my funding summary was $0. Today however I checked and it changed showing I have 2 Tuition Grants of $385 each semester of my 2 year program, and I'm guessing I might get a loan summary after they recieve my forms. I scoured forums all weekend in panic, so I hope this removes all the stress you have :)

When I applied for OSAP I told them i'd earn about $3000 during the summer and not work during school. I couldn't find a job during summer so I didn't make any money. How much would my loan be adjusted by if I don't plan on making any money , right now OSAP is giving me 10400 loan.

You actually write to your school's financial aid office to appeal.

Probably not by much. OSAP expects you'll make at least $2000 in the summer whether you actually do or not. Couldn't find a job? Yeah, right.

Those who already have it are guaranteed funding and renewal as long as you meet the renewal criteria.https://osap.gov.on.ca/O...istofAid/PRD9197655.html

Thanks, and I couldn't find a Job , I tried but then gave up. Another Question - On my OSAP Summary it say's that the money will be released on September 4, does that mean it will be in my bank by September 4th or they releasing it on the 4th. I have to pay my tuition by the 7th so I'm not sure how it works.

Well I was curious about that also, so I called my school and they said they believe that they confirm your enrollment the first day of class, which for Queen's is Sept. 10th and that is when you will get your OSAP, although it is *ready* by the 4th...
although I still have hope i'll get it on the 4th lol
...also a lot of people have been giving me wrong information lately...so you never know...
