Les Prince sounds awesome :D

I really hope I at least a double room (aiming for a single). I've heard quite the horror story about getting triple, even QUAD rooms. The worst part is, these rooms were originally designed as doubles.

The double room conversions happened this past year because an unexpectedly high number of students accepted their residence offers--I would assume that Housing Services has adjusted their offers this year accordingly.

As a reminder: you can't pick your building. You can list preferences for style (single with washroom i.e. Les Prince, all female i.e. Wallingford, suite i.e. Mary Keyes), but even then it's a lottery system and you have no guarantees.

I'll put out my little endorsement for Wallingford Hall: it was quiet, the rooms are huge, you can use the common fridges, it has great windows, with only 70 people it's very much a community, it was kept spotless, the building itself is gorgeous, and it's very very close to the Chemistry building and most of the eateries (as are all West Quad buildings). I think it was a six minute walk to my farthest classes. That being said, it's not a building for parties, and obviously it's all-female.

I hope I'm not alone here, but have any of you registered at other universities, i.e registered for courses and residence? I'm an OOP but I registered already at my second choice because if I wait too long I won't get the residence and electives I wanted if I don't get accepted into Health Sciences.

Also, will we have trouble getting the electives we want if we are accepted into Health Science, since acceptances are so late?

PS Anyone saying they've been accepted are probably lying, considering the twitter page says acceptances aren't being sent out yet. All I know is that if you didn't submit your supplementary app they sent you a rejection letter, happened to my friend.

Doesn't matter. I registered for UBC residence and whatnot before being accepted to health sci.

No, course selection begins sometime in June I believe.

Most OOP acceptances were sent out already, as they always are before Ontario offers come in the upcoming weeks. There may be some more OOP offers sent out, can't remember if there was this time at last year.

So OOP students who still haven't got any email are probably rejected?? :(

I thought some residences were given based on the average you got.

If it's a first come first serve basis at Mac, should I just accept my Mac Life Sci so I can try and get the room I want? Unless by some miracle I get my Health sci offer could I change my decision?

Mcmaster- Honours Health Science I rejected
Mcmaster- LIfe Sciences I ACCEPTED!

You're guaranteed a single if you have a 95%+ admission average, which increases your chances of getting Les Prince/Keyes for rez.

They actually abolished this benefit for this year...I first noticed it not being advertised this fall and during the open house I asked the residence staff about it and they said that benefit is no longer in place.

It's probably due to the overpopulation of students last year. McMaster had to convert many double rooms to triples + Quads as well as renting off-campus locations for students because there just wasn't enough res space for everyone (more people accepted than were expected to).

I can confirm this as well. I called a few days ago and they told me there is no guarantee for a single room.

OMG. GO TO SCHOLAR'S ELECTIVES. TRUST ME.

I have a couple of friends (amazing people, really) already in it and they have had nothing but positive things to say about it. The center of attraction for the program is that you get automatic research opportunities to work with a professor on a topic that YOU choose. So if you're into research, definitely go for it. To add, I've seen enough people from other programs, that were all highly qualified, clawing their way trying to land internships but miserably failing because no professor really wants to spend the time mentoring an undergraduate student. (They always favor their darn grad students! haha)

I understand that it might be far from home for you, but it has recently been dubbed the most prestigious undergraduate program in Ontario. I called in just to say hello to the program coordinators and I was told that they received over 1,500 completed applications this year for 60 offers (target is 50 but they're expecting some to not take it). If you do the math, that's less than a 4% acceptance rate... oh, and I should also mention that the admissions committee consists of mostly deans that chose YOU!

So honestly, don't be discouraged by Mac Health Sci!!! I know someone who got into Harvard and got rejected by them... LOL that always makes my laugh haha and he was so pissed too. And although Scholar's and Health Sci are two very different programs, (with very very very different application styles), they're now both levelled on the same caliber of prestige and competition.

Also, as you're applying for Health Sci, I presume you're a med hopeful. I currently know of 3 Scholar's Electives students (all studying biomed of course) that have applied to medical school early from third year. They've all gotten interviews, but haven't heard of any final decisions yet -- I think those come out in late May -- but I can keep you posted on whether any of them get in.

Oh, and sorry for this essay of a post... BUT SRSLY, Scholar's sounds like an amaaazing program. Maybe I'll see you there next year?

O.o That means there are more people getting a final top 6 average of 95%+ than there are single rooms in all of McMaster's residence buildings. http://pleated-jeans.com...en-they-start-crying.gif

I'm from Ontario, but not in the IB program. I'm taking a crap load of AP courses though.

McGill offers are solely mark-based and I've heard from friends that they are releasing the next round in May, so sometime soon probably -- fingers crossed for you! As long as you have a top 6 average of at least 92.5%, you're pretty much guaranteed in. But then again, anything below 90% is a guaranteed rejection so it's quite a fine line, I think. Best of luck!

Best of luck guys, I ended up turning down my offer last week but it really is a great program. If its any help to anyone my top 6 average was exactly 95% (albeit with Alberta's wonderful grade deflation) and my essays were extremely mediocre, I honestly did them the day before the deadline. If I got in, most of you should be able to.
