Btw, what does everyone want to be?

I personally want to be a psychiatrist. The reason I want to enter into that profession is because I want to sit in beautifully shaped chairs and have awesome pens (I went through a period of wanting to be an architect because of their amazing pens). If anyone knows who Edna Mode is, I look exactly like her - 5'1, black hair (same haircut), oversized round glasses, and the same demeanor. That is another reason why my friends think I should be a psychiatrist.

Just imagine how awesome I'd look. Oh and I like helping people.

Between work, volunteering, extracurricular activities, and school I have only found the time to think of responses :P. I'm excited to write responses for the first two questions but not so much for the last question lol.

And I would be happy to do anything in the medical field. From my experiences that is where I feel most comfortable and fulfilled. So for now, medical school is the goal. I figure that I don't really know enough about the sciences to properly decide on a specialization though :).

@ Enda - Not going to lie, that sounds pretty amazing.

Take your time guys, a lot of things happen in grade 12. All my responses were spurred on by events that happened 1-2 months before the deadline.

So beyond academics, where do everyone's interests lie? Since we will all be stressing together as the months progress, might as well get to know each other :).

One of my main top six (that i plan on using) im killing (95 plus). Math ive always been slow at learning, so calc is mid 80's with extensive studying.

Im going to shoot for 100% average (Not possible due to my 90% in english), im not going to keep any mindset lower than that number so i dont slack off.

hey guys! i already graduated gr 12 in June this year and i actually went to western for biomed but i just withdrew from the university because i wanted to give health sci another shot! so im going back to school second semester in february and im retaking calculus (and maybe chemsitry if i can get into it) so boost my marks. last year my average was a 90 on the dot but i thought my supp was pretty good and still got rejected. this year i know by retaking calc i wont get much above a 90 average. in fact it will probably still be a 90 average or a 91. i was just wondering what my chances are of getting in if i have a pretty decent supp application.:)

WHAT? You left BioMed, why??? You should of applied during 1st year. I'm thinking of BioMed as my 2nd choice, how is it? How many students are there - I know its 1385 get accepted or something but that is the total for all science students. Are they competitive people? Are they nice?...Is the program interesting...

Plus, how much was tuition altogether? Including rez, meal and tutition?

I am a girl.

App is non existent as of now :/.
English- 90%, finished during gr.11 (happy since 90 is unheard of at my school)
Advanced functions- 96% (for now)
Biology- ~low 90% ... because of an amino acids quiz I bombed lol, but I'm confident I can pull that up to at least a mid ninety.
Photography - ~100% (my easy course!! yayy!)
Physics- ... well let's not ruin the mood with that >:(. I despise physics.

How about yourself?

Hey all, I'm a grade 11 student aspiring to get into Mac Health Sci. I've been lurking on the forums ever since last year, so I thought I'd take the time to introduce myself. C:

A question: does health sci look at grade 11 marks?

Nice to meet you.

I don't believe they look at your grade 11 marks. I'm quite sure that McMaster doesn't even give out early acceptances anymore so I don't see why they would base your acceptance off of your grade 11 marks (if that's what your asking).

Smart thinking!!! This is the mindset that all of you should have! lol

No health sci only looks at gr. 12 marks to decide whether you meet the cut-off, but they don't need gr. 11 marks because they don't give early acceptances.

Haven't heard anything of the sort. They had early acceptances last year...

Take your time thinking for now, but don't worry that you'll change it up later once or twice...or twenty times. lol I have a folder at home filled with only the different copies of my supp app, about 10-15 copies of each, changed a little bit each time. That's absolutely normal, it only means that you're improving it more and more when you change it up. And if you end up redoing one of your essays on another topic altogether, don't get upset, you have to do what you think will be best, even if that does take some extra effort.

Definitely, Del had a talk with all the first year health sci's a couple weeks ago, and he confirmed the health sci selection process, so everyone pay attention:

Once 90% average is met, marks become irrelevant!
-3 people mark your supp app and score it out of 7
-they average out the 3 marks
-They go through them and accept all the 7's then all the 6's and usually the program is filled up at that point.
-If they get to the point where they have a limited number of spots remaining, and a whole bunch of supp apps rated 6, only then will marks act as tie breakers.

I'm at 99 for chem
97 for bio
about 97 for physics
and 94 for functions (which I'm definitely going to bring up)

well i left cause i was super homesickk andd i just felt likee i wouldnt be able to focus on work and schoool if i was so homesick so i wouldnt really have the marks to transfer. i thought it would just be so much easier to upgrade high school marks and give it another shot! the program itself is really goood.i wouldnt know too much since i left but now ive been reseraching it and its actually an amazing program with a lot of opporutnities. and the campus is beautiful. and yeah biomed is included in the faculty of science (which includes science) so whatever the number is (1385) thats science and biomed. the people and the profs are very very helpful and the program seems reallly awesome im actually considering going back next yera now. tuition is 6500. ur residence fee depeneds where u live. i lived in a traditional double room dorm which was 9500 (including meal plan) but if u wanted to live in a suite its about 11 500 (with meal plan)!
